I just returned fom a trip to Lisbon enjoying both their old syle cabin dating back to the ninties but also their latest cabin product only rolled out in the last couple of weeks.
If you are taking the early morning flight at 7 am out of Frankfurt you are more than happy to using Lufthansa's Business Lounge at terminal A.
I actually like this one in particular as it is very close in comfort to those branded SENATOR LOUNGE . You'll find an open comfy space, the Usual self-service stations but also a very nice bar where they offer you a decent coffee in barista quality.
Plan enough time for your way to your gate as Spain/Portugal flights usually leave at the very end of the terminal.
Priority boarding was quick and biz not fully booked. On the way to Lis I had the old biz featuring outdated but surprisingly comfy leather seats. The crew was very attentive and caring and breakfast was served quickly after takeoff. Norhing to complain about, the breakfast with its cheese and bread selection was good. After a short 2 1/2 hours flight we reached Lisbon. A quick deboarding followed and my days in Lisbon started. A report on sights and insider tips will follow sortly.
Personal recommendation. Grab the Metro which virtually gets you everywhere in Lisbon. Its clean, fast and cheap, really cheap (1.45 €).
On the way back I took the 6.15 pm flight back to Frankfurt. As I usually travel with cabin baggage only, I did the online check-in and my boarding pass entitled me to priority security check. Wow this was fast, very fast. I passed security within two minutes.
Lisbon has a one size fits all lounge, called ANA. It is pretty big and offers enough space to relax in a modern, stylish environment. Food and drinkwise there is nothing to complain either and it offers you everything from freshly prepared sandwichs to Nespresso coffee and the usual selection of spirits. I personelly enjoyed a very nice glass of Cava, although this sparkling wine originates in Spain..
When bording I realized the fresh design of gray and red RECARO leather seats, known to many of us since Lufthansa is using the same. Then I noticed that there was no curtain, separating the elite from those in the back of the air(bus). I did not bother since I had 1 F. Well this was a mistake.
I noticed the mistake rather quick since the tray tables were stored in the arm rests limiting the seat width. Soon after takeoff I was handed out the dinner menue and asked if I would like an aperetif which I gladly accepted. The wine selection reflects all the excellent wines Portugal has to offer and chose some decent white wine.
I had salat and sauted shrimp what I really enjoyed making up for the terrible seating. The flight attendants were professional and attentive and made sure that my glass was topped up a couple of times,
In a nutshell, the new business class does not convince in terms of space and seats. There are better products on the market e.g. Turkish. If I had to choose from LH or TP I would take TP.
After landing in Frankfurt, the short, 1.5 km trip towards the exit started. Its a long way from A 40 to the exit.
